Reminiscent to last year, FIU is marketing on public bus system.

There have also been some reports of our Merchandise beign sold at several locations along the tri-county area.

If you find any interesting advertising stuff please share. Thanks.

I guess not everyone likes the "Why not us" slogan. Check out this tweet and the responses:

I find it interesting that the people bitching about the slogan in these tweets all work for the Herald.

I am horrified that this is our tagline. It was great line in a great speech by our coach but that doesnt mean its a good line to build our marketing on. Wow. Either we have:

1. The most untalented dregs working in or marketing department. (find this hard to believe as I work in media and marketing and have met FIU alumni in top positions around the country).

2. Bad organizational culture leads to bad decision making process.

3. Some bozo in power in the Athletic Dept is making unilateral decisions while not allowing vetting from others. (Good example was changing our logo a few years ago so it looked like FW instead of FIU because the panther covered the bottom of the letters.

4. No one gives a d*mn

Why not us? is a sad way to start off what I do believe will be a run a of game-changing success led by Butch.

Alternative slogans:
"Something might happen"
"When you Wish Upon a Star"
"Just Maybe"
"Dollar and a Dream"
"Ahhh What the Hell"
"Ancient Alien theorists believe"

I'm ok with slogan. The #Whynotus slogan came from Butch Davis press conference about a mid major program being ranked high. It's ok to have that mentality, especially coming from our coach with a reputation of building strong college football teams.

I don't think coaches care about any slogan, saying, etc. They just want to win some football games. Now let's move on and beat the s*** out of UCF!!!

I don't like "Why not us?" It's fine in a speech. That's one thing. It's different than an ad campaign that I think makes you come across as weak.

Have to agree that slogans are way more important for watchers than players. We need to win some games and then our slogan can be "We used to suck but we don't anymore."

Yeah, I don't think a slogan is going to significantly change how many people show up to games. It matters more to us because we care. Maybe quite a few more people are now interested in how we do or whether or not they may show up to games, but I doubt the slogan will have much of an impact on their decision.

I imagine changing the terrible graphics would be more helpful.

Obviously the slogan isn't going to affect how the guys play on the field. But it does affect how the program is perceived. I have mixed feelings about the slogan. I loved it in the speech. I even like using it to motivate the players. But using it for advertising the program...? Ehhh there has gotta be something better.
