I'll same some thoughts later, but wanted to separate the Spring Game from the Spring Practice thread...
Any one else wants to start?

Looks like Stantley Thomas laid the wood on Jones here. Nice hit for a former WR:

There is something good happening at FIU.

Not just the typical seemingly perpetual bustling around the campus. Something good is brewing within the Florida International University’s football program.

Ok, here are some quick notes from what I saw...

First let's begin with the fresh faces...
Demery is a Monster, even side by side with our biggest guys. He will be the fist OL drafted from FIU; well maybe Budwig as a late rounder. But Demery might be an early second day selection.

Colston, red shirted last year and it payed off. Guy is the biggest DT (in terms of size that was dress, maybe a hair taller and slightly heavier than #91 A.J. )

Jordan Wood he is all we have read about and more. Oliver drew the most praise but Oliver went against the second team mostly. And keep in mind that if not for Wood and Little, Oliver would be a starter at Left DE.

Admittedly, AJ has said that he still needs to work on the run defense as a DT. And that continues to show when the two DT are AJ and Juste. No hate intended, Juste is just not big enough.

Silva looked on the few times I looked at him, slightly tentative at LB. He's never played it and has a lot to learn in what coaches call "keys".

Now, Our OL is bigger than last year. Budwig and Demery go along way towards legitimizing our size. Yet our DL held up well. I saw a slight weakness in the middle, so teams with large RBs may weardown our DL over time. I doubt teams will be able to bounce to the outside regularly. our DEs are to big now to be turned around or blocked out by a FB or TE.

This is how I saw the first and second team looked at the lines:
OL 2nd Team
79
61
55
50
52

OL 1St Team
58
74
60
66
77

DL 1st
98
46
91
96

DL 2nd
94
99
75 Colson
48

So in terms of the DBs. That some are concerned about, they looked fine. Maloney's big catch came of a slip by Richard Dames at the snap. That allowed him to break free and catch the skinny and foot race to the out side. The Safety Tyree shoe stringed him.

Otherwise the score tells you the story. Officially, the offense won. Spring games are scored to benefit the Offense, yet the Defense held them to 6 points. The TD came from third team, and if you watch the video you will see a LB or Safety run past Kaylans handoff-redjersey.

The Defense celebrated on that play on for the Offense to be awarded points. Blah.

Running game is Strong.
Lubin, Brown, Stanley and played real well.

We talked with someone at the VIP tent that has been at every practice and said we need LBs. I think what we need is experience, but the talent is there.

Most importantly, we need James Morgan to come be our QB. Despite what you see published in terms of stats, there were only 2 or 3 really good throws.

And for those who have been calling for it. Christian Alexander was the starting QB.

Got there about 10 minutes late so could't see who actually started. However i did note the good play of corners, Lubin, Brown and Stanley Thomas (specially) . Also good to see Dorian Hall getting looks with the first team defense, still needs to put on some pounds but i believe he will be a play maker for us.

Could not agree more about Colson, for sure our biggest D-Lineman, an played well, got in the backfield once or twice.

On offense, not much to note. We need the new QB, scrimmage looked a lot like the Bowl Game sadly. The TE Sterling Palmer will be a beast, kid can run and catch plus has great size.

Demery was a man among boys, got a ton of playing time too but for sure best O-Lineman we've ever had.

Demery will definitely be a 1st or 2nd round NFL draft pick who is going to play multiple years in the league per FIU coaching staffs expectations.

fiusports.com finally updated the football roster. Some mistakes still but we can now see who all the new players are.

Enjoy.

Seems like a decent number of early enrollees.
