From Barry Jackson in the Herald.

▪ During its meeting with Marlins Park officials regarding the 2019 UM-FIU football game, FIU made clear that it will go back to Hard Rock Stadium before making a decision.

The game will either be at Hard Rock Stadium or Marlins Park, and FIU is trying to strike the best financial deal.

Hope they pick Marlins Stadium so its at least a neutral site and close to the main campus. Glad they are thinking about maxing revenue.

Extremely embarrassing.

And to think some on here are ok with slapping #LipstickOnAPig and closing their eyes pretending it's not the #sh!thole stadium of CUSA.

But hey, let's not continue the stadium expansion thread again.

Looks fantastic when they have 15,000 people in a 70,000 seat stadium.

Was walking around last night at the spring game. We have the best high school stadium in the nation.

Yah, we really don't. All we really need is a better outer facade and (small) press tower and club seats section. That's all for now. I figutre if I keep repeating myself one day it'll come true.

You're basically right. But don't forget the west side scoreboard!

About that, noticed during the spring game they took down the west side scoreboard, could we possibly see some upgrade there for the 2018 season?

That was down all of last season. I wish they'd put up at least a small scoreboard, but I don't think we'll see anything for a while.

I have made my thoughts on us needing improvements to the stadium many times. I'm with you guys.

The question here is can you make make money for FIU by having a home game at Marlins stadium or Hard Rock vs our stadium

Capacity
FIU: 23,500
Marlins: 34,000 for football according to Wikipedia
Hard Rock: 65,326

1.Assumptions: 10,000 tickets are set aside to give to students for free
2. Avg ticket price of $20. Probably could be $25 but left at $20 to be conservative. So a few suites and other things balance out family packages and alumni discounts.
3. Rental of the other stadiums may be more than what's here.
4. Other revenue would be wash with other expenses like added security, etc.

Capacity Minus students Left to sell Avg Price Ticket Revenue Minus Rental Profit
FIU 23,500 -10,000 =13,500 X $20 = $270,000 -$0 =$270,000
Marlins 34,000 -10,000 =24,000 X $20 = $480,000 -$50,000 =$430,000
Hard Rock 65,326 -10,000 =55,326 X $20 =$1,106,520 -$100,000 =$1,026,520

This is just to eyeball it. We probably would not sell out Hard Rock.

IF FIU is a good team by then, Meaning they have a great preceding season, then we should have a lot of bodies in the stadium, including casual FIU football fans and FIU students.

I'm hoping to make money, but I'd rather sell out our home stadium with 22,000 in attendance than play elsewhere.
