We have to get this game. Otherwise the season is truly done.

This sounds crazy to say, but we played pretty sloppily and are up 34-0 at the half!

I think now with a 41 point lead... it's safe to say we are in the win column this week.

Would love to see a defense that has struggled quite a bit this season protect the goose egg for morale.

Best all around game of the season so far. While it was a very weak opponent, the result of the game was more than we hoped for. I’m hoping this kind of game helps the team in building up for the rest of the season. Many good things that came from this easy, total win.

1. Lopsided 44-point win.
2. Defense allowed 0 points. Second time in our history, first in FBS games.
3. We got second and third team kids some playing time.
4. Whittaker and Jean Baptiste played more than any game so far, and did very well. This is good for depth purposes going forward.
5. Borregales had a much needed perfect night going 3-3 in field goals. This could signal his expected turnaround into the kind of kicker we expect him to be.
6. Maurice Alexander finally did great. This bodes well for future.
7. 44-0. 8. James Morgan played well for second game in a row after his injury.
9. Both lines got a shot of confidence.
10. We allowed only 115 total yards. All time record for our program. Granted, it was UMass, but still, they came in averaging 330 yards/game.
11. Great “step up”game by Gaiter IV, with 7 catches for over 100 receiving yards. We need healthy WR’s to step up.

The D that last quarter is the one I've been waiting to see. They were great, flying around to the ball and having fun.

Walter Vila claims U Mass is an FCS school in this morning's Herald. I don't think that is correct. They have lost a game to an FCS school, but they play (or attempt to play) in the FBS.

A big mistake...and a condescending tone at it...by Villa (which surprised me, as he’s been ok). UMass is full time FBS since 2013, transitional since 2011. They were FCS National Champs in 1998 and are the nation’s 4th oldest football program. It only took 2 minutes to look it up. Lazy, inaccurate, and erroneous reporting there.

In his defense, they belong in FCS, and would lose to a fair number of teams.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, but that is not a defense for inaccurate reporting. Really surprising that a professional would be that sloppy. I could see it in a student paper, but there really isn't any excuse for that in a major newspaper. When you make a contentious statement, one around which your whole piece is based, you need to check your facts.

I'm happy with this game. Yes, it was UMass, but our defense really did step up. Our defense played better than our defense the last couple of years against UMass, holding the team to 0 points.
