Well, it's time to move on from the Evans getting fired thought and now move on to what he is going to have next year. We are losing our top 2 scorers. So far he has signed 4 players, as follows:

Josh Stamps - 3 Star (recruited by Chicago State & UTEP), JC Player from Trinity Valley, Tx. 6'5", SG - Average 12.5 Pts, 46.7% Shooting, 3.4 Rebs, and 1.2 Assists.
Willie Nunez - 2 Star (recruited by Northern Arizona, UTEP, JMU, & Chattanooga) JC Player from Indian River, FL. 6'6", SG - Average 20.8 Pts, 39.2% Shooting, 5.5 Rebs, and 3.0 Assists.
Cordell Viera - 2 Star (FIU only offer) Freshman from Canada, 6'3" PG - Average - Can't really find any stats, so this is probably a flyer on a below the radar player.
Isaiah Banks - 2 Star (UTEP & NC AT) Freshman from Conyers, GA, 6'2" SG - Average - 17.1 Pts, 5.0 Rebs, 2.1 Asst.
Elhadji Dieng - 2 Star(FIU only offer) New Mexico College, 6'11" C - Average 8.8 Pts, 57.7% Shooting, 6.0 Rebs and 0.2 Assists.
Trejon Jacob - 2 Star (UT Martin, Illinois State, Appy State) Seminole State College, FL, 6'5" SG - Average 13.9 Pts, 53.9% Shooting, 4.7 Rebs and 1.8 Assists.
Kasper Christiansen - 2 Star (FIU only offer) Massanutten Military Academy, VA 6'10 PF - Couldn't find much on him

Verbally Committed

Anthony Munson, Jr. - 2 Star (NC A&T) Bedford Academy, NY 6'0" SG - Couldn't find much on him

Honestly, this is a class that would be OK for a first year head coach, not one 5 years into his tenure. Let's hope we can find a scorer from the plethora of 6'4" shooting guards that we have. Go F I U!

Good stuff, ''Fan. Thank you for putting this together from the last several months' info on FIU recruiting. If everyone that has "committed" actually sign and come to FIU, it would mean also several defections from our team. I think this class on paper looks as good as any Evans has put together, but as 'Fan stated, I don't know if it's a little too late. At any rate, hoping for a really surprising rebound for this program.

Veira is actually very well ranked in all of Canada by some services (29th by North Pole Hoops), and reportedly averaged 19.7 points and 8 boards per game, while dishing out 6.5 assists per game, including one game where he scored 86 points. Reportedly recruited by all the top Canadian university basketball programs: http://northpolehoops.com/2017/03/20/co ... niversity/

Munson reportedly averaged 22 points, 10 boards and 6 assists his senior season at Brooklyn's Bedford Academy, but only garnered one offer (from North Carolina A&T) and decided to play an extra year for Prep school in Tennessee.

Go Panthers!

Trejon Jacob officially signs with FIU:

Quote:
"To have someone of Trejon's caliber both academically and athletically, will be a tremendous plus for the Panthers' program," said Anthony Evans. "He does so many things on the floor and is a true stat-sheet-stuffer. He shoots with accuracy from the three-point line and from mid-range, and has the ability to attack the basket. He's a willing passer, rebounds from his position, and he defends at high level. Having only played one year at junior college, Trejon will have three years remaining and he has barely scratched the surface of how good he can be."

Elhadji Dieng officially signs with FIU:

Quote:
"Elhadji is a great addition to our team in that he brings size, toughness, skill and a tireless work ethic," said Evans. "He is extremely competitive and driven to improve each day, which will help him make an immediate impact."

Chaffey College's point guard, Brian Beard Jr., has committed to FIU as per Beach City Hoops tweet. The 5'10 JUCO guard was his Di Player of the Year of the SCC- North Conference he plays for. He averaged 19.7 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game as a Sophomore at Chaffey, which helped him being named a 1st Team All State player in the state of California JUCO's. Averaged 12.5 points and 5.9 assists for Chaffey as a Freshman.

Out of Rancho Cucamongo, California as a prep player, he was an All State Player, and coming in as a Senior was listed as Southern California's overall #29 top recruit that year: http://www.fullctpress.net/socal-top-2014-players.html

Also, ranked #53 player in state as a high school senior: https://californiasupremebasketball.com ... 84-steals/

That explains the signings of so many point guards, including that latest JUCO one (Beard Jr.).

Good luck to Kimar wherever he ends up!

Looks like most of the recruits made it on campus this year, a change from previous years, he adds size but I'm not sure what else. Once again, this is a brand new team.
