We might finally be getting rid of Turtle, unfortunately the person who made a mistake in hiring him is still in charge of the program and will likely get a second change to continue making terrible hires. Dirty Pete (my Trumpism name for PG from now on) did not confirm or deny that TT's contract would be extended. Who would be the favorite to replace TT, JD Arteaga, another scUM hire of course. Go F I U!

Mervyl Melendez has transformed Alabama State baseball into a Southwestern Athletic Conference power and a rising, respected mid-major program nationally.

Alabama State has won back-to-back SWAC Eastern Division titles, finishing as the SWAC runners-up in 2014. This past season, the Hornets were crowned Black College National Champions by blackcollegenines.com.

The 120 wins during Melendez' tenure is the highest four-year total in ASU baseball history. The Hornets won 31 games in 2015, the third straight year with 30+ victories. Milestones continue to be set yearly, as 2014’s 37-win total was the most in program history for the second straight year after 32 victories in 2013. It’s the first time ASU baseball has posted four straight 20-win seasons, as the 20-win total in Melendez' inaugural campaign of 2012 was the program's most in 10 years.

Alabama State baseball continues to be big-game hunters under Melendez. Last season, the Hornets defeated #17 Cal-State Fullerton (which went on to the College World Series), along with season sweeps of Jacksonville State and Troy for the first time ever.

Anything is going to be an improvement over Turtle. Best news we've had at FIU in a while.

We might even see times when we are up in a close games and we don't make a fielding error or any other mental error to give the game away. Go F I U!

It will indeed be fantastic to not see the team crap the bed in clutch situations. Turtle's teams were notoriously fragile mentally.

Unfortunately Rosenberg is likely to re-hire Pete for some unknown and irrational reason. Anything is better than TT and our choking ways when it came to tight games or even putting away insignificant teams, but the wrong person is leaving FIU.

Funny how UM boards are more concerned about our baseball situation than we are. Sad!

That forum? It looks like more infighting and talking about if Turtle is good than caring about FIU. Why is everyone here so quick to $$$$ on FIU?

Greg Lovelady comes in with pretty impressive credentials, though he is from um, but having coached before and the results he has gotten are impressive.
