Beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 17, FIU Athletics will host 11 events in five days, including a pair of basketball games versus rival Florida Atlantic, an appearance by the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team and the FIU baseball season opener.

To kick off the festivities, the FIU women basketball team will go up against in-state rival Florida Atlantic at the U.S. Century Bank Arena at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The team will be celebrating Think Pink Night by wearing special pink warm-up shirts and a limited quantity of these shirts will be sold at the game. Fans who wear pink to the game will receive a Breast Cancer Awareness wristband.

The following night, the Golden Panther men's basketball team will look to avenge a Jan. 30 loss to FAU, as FIU tips off versus the Owls at 8 p.m. at U.S. Century Bank Arena Thursday night. The first 500 students who arrive early and sign a sportsmanship agreement will receive a free FIU T-shirt. Let's pack the arena, be loud and send the Owls back to their burrow.

Coming up this weekend, you won't want to miss a second of spring sports action as both the FIU softball and baseball teams are in action.

Starting on Friday, the FIU softball team will host the Blue and Gold Felsberg Memorial Tournament in honor of Michael Felsberg, a former FIU track athlete and Marine that lost his life in Iraq . As part of Military Appreciation Day, the U.S. Army Golden Knights will parachute into the FIU Softball Complex. Be there by 3:45 p.m. on Friday to witness the Golden Knights' breath-taking descend from the clouds.

The Golden Panthers will then take on LIU at 4 p.m. and Bethune-Cookman at 6 p.m., and all fans in attendance will receive an FIU rally towel. FIU will continue the tournament with double-headers on Saturday and Sunday, as game times are set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on both days.

The FIU baseball team opens its season on Friday against Maryland at 7 p.m., as the Golden Panthers enter the season with their eyes on the Sun Belt Conference title following the best turn-around in team history. All fans will receive a FIU baseball magnet upon entrance to the game.

The series with the Terrapins will continue throughout the weekend with games on Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m. On Saturday, the FIU Alumni Association will host a tailgate party for fans with music, food and prizes beginning at 5 p.m. On Sunday, fans can pick up their 2010 FIU baseball poster. Be sure to stick around after the game for an autograph session with the team.
