I thought someone in this thread was saying the Fair would reject all proposals because they don't care about the community and think the Fair should simply give up land it has the right to in order to make FIU happy even if it means they'll be stuck in a potentially worse locale. But hey, what do I know?
The Fair is between 'a rock and a hard place' as FIU has the mandate of the County voters, the superior economic and social service position and the support FIU has from the County legislators. The Fair basically has a friendly lease they signed 20 years ago with a County body that had a very different agenda than it has today.
Everyone knew this day would come, however instead of the Fair working with the State and County, they are making things as difficult as possible. Wasn't a big fan of that Carn'y environment they brought to town every year and I'm even less so now.
p.s. Miami-Dade County's population is bigger than 16 U.S. States and its land mass is bigger than 2; it needs great institutions to be built here, not the hinderence of some traveling road show.
