Looks like we are the front runners, we might be able to get some additional renovations out of this.

Any more news on this? More $$$ would be great. Getting legit press boxes would be a great plus. Hopefully new video boards while we’re at it too.

Beckham's group won preliminary bid to renovate Lockhart stadium in Fort Lauderdale, where InterMiami will play their first two seasons until Miami Freedom Park is ready for the 2022 season.

Bad choice... Lockhart was the death of the Miami Fusion. The MLS teams that have been very successful in attendance connected to urban, ethnic, and hipster audiences. Atlanta, NYFC, Seattle, Portland are all examples of this. Thats the crowd that keeps coming back all season. FIU would have been a better location to start pulling form those audiences.

Teams that focused on suburban, soccer mom crowds failed. That's the crowd comes for a kids birthday party a couple of times during the season and leaves before the game ends. There's been many articles written about this.

Apparently the fact that Ricardo Silva owns the naming rights to the stadium had a lot to do about this... From what I've gathered the owner of the Miami FC team didn't make it easy for Beckham's MLS group.

But the suburban mindset is one that dominates parts of this ownership group.
