It doesn't make total sense, imo. And while OU may not be entirely happy with the current conference setup, how is adding UC and UCF going to make them happier? In other words, if OU has interest in either the Big Ten or SEC, why would adding games against UC and UCF change their mind.
If OU is truly looking at their options, the only way to get them to stay is if the Big 12 added some marquee, nationally-relevant programs. Since nobody from the Pac 12, Big Ten or SEC would join the Big 12, the only palatable conference would be the ACC (FSU, Clemson, Miami, Louisville, etc). If the Big 12 could lure some ACC schools, or if some ACC and Big 12 schools split and form their own conference, then OU may remain in the "Big 12". But if OU wants to leave, adding UCF and UC is the same as adding no one because that's how OU likely views them.
